Exhibition – Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary
History Museum of ArmeniaExclusive Exhibition: Where Past and Present Unite in the Life-Giving Embrace of Motherhood
This year, on September 21st, Armenia’s Independence Day will be marked by a significant cultural event. The History Museum of Armenia will open an international exhibition titled “Mother Goddess: From Anahit to Mary,” which will feature, for the first time in Armenia, the famous bronze head and hand of the goddess Anahit, currently housed at the prestigious British Museum.
Over sixty exhibits from the rich collection of the History Museum of Armenia will be showcased, presenting the concept of the Mother Goddess from paganism to Christianity, from stone to metal, clay, and thread.
This exhibition is a dialogue between times, spaces, and two museums, centered around the idea of the Mother Goddess as a symbol of the life-giving force and the continuity of life.
The exhibition will run until March 21, 2025.
