Mount Aragats
Armenia’s Majestic Summit and Natural Wonder
Elevation: 4,090 m
As Armenia’s highest peak, Mount Aragats is an awe-inspiring extinct volcano reaching 4,090 meters, symbolizing the country’s remarkable natural beauty. Encircled by four distinct peaks, the mountain’s crater hosts a serene lake formed from melted snow, creating a unique and tranquil scene. From Aragats’ summit, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across the Armenian landscape—making it a premier destination for mountaineers, hikers, and nature lovers alike
During summer, Aragats transforms into a vibrant mosaic of wildflowers, including lavender, balsam, alpine chamomile, and anise, which blanket the lush green meadows on its slopes. This thriving mountain ecosystem is a significant source of Armenia’s natural water resources, as melting snow supplies numerous streams and rivers. At the mountain’s base lies Lake Ayghr, an impressive natural spring fed by the Aparan springs, which deliver up to 200,000 liters of pure water per second. The mountain’s foothills also feature mineral springs, with water compositions resembling the famed Narzan springs of Kislovodsk, Russia, making Mount Aragats a sought-after destination for both adventure and natural wellness.
