Hovhannes Toumanyan Museum
40 Moskovyan str. Yerevan 0002The Hovhannes Toumanyan Museum, designed by architect Grigor Aghababyan, opened in April 1953 at 40 Moskovyan Street in Yerevan. Home to over 18,000 carefully preserved exhibits, the museum highlights the life and legacy of one of Armenia’s most beloved writers.
A standout feature of the museum is Toumanyan’s personal library, a rare and diverse collection of approximately 8,000 volumes, showcased in a dedicated hall on the second floor. Visitors are also captivated by the recreated “Vernatun” room from Tiflis, a space that brings Toumanyan’s literary gatherings to life, and the stunning panoramic view of the Lori Gorge, accompanied by the music of the opera Anoush.
Situated on an elevated spot in central Yerevan, the museum is reached by a staircase of 54 steps, symbolizing each year of Toumanyan’s life.
