You’ll explore the heart of the city, including Republic Square, Northern Avenue, and the landmarks surrounding the Opera and Ballet Theater. The tour continues with visits to the Parliament, the Presidential Residence, Yerevan State University, and the iconic Mother Armenia Monument. Home to the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, the Cascade is both a cultural hub and a popular social spot. Yerevan – Ararat Valley – Khor Virap – Azat Reservoir – Garni – Symphony of Stones – Geghard (UNESCO) – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel, set off for a day rich in history, nature, and culture.
Your first stop is the Ararat Valley to visit the iconic Khor Virap Monastery, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of biblical Mount Ararat, its snow-capped peaks towering over the horizon. Beneath the church lies the underground pit where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years by King Trdat for spreading Christianity. After his release in 301 AD, Gregory baptized the king and people, making Armenia the first country to adopt Christianity as a state religion. Today, Khor Virap remains a sacred pilgrimage site, and visitors can still descend into the dungeon where Gregory was held.
Next, visit the tranquil Azat Reservoir, located in the Ararat region. The calm surface of the lake reflects the sky and clouds, creating a stunning, ever-changing natural mirror depending on the time of day.
Continue to the village of Garni to see the Temple of Garni, the only surviving pagan Greco-Roman temple in Armenia, dedicated to the sun god Mithra. Built in 77 AD by King Trdat I of the Arsacid Dynasty, it stands as a remarkable symbol of pre-Christian Armenia. Explore the nearby ruins of the Royal Palace and the ancient bathhouse, decorated with intricate mosaics.
A short drive leads to the Garni Gorge, home to the natural wonder known as the Symphony of Stones. These towering basalt column formations resemble organ pipes, forming a surreal geological phenomenon that leaves visitors in awe.
Optional: Enjoy a traditional Armenian lunch hosted by a local family in a nearby village. Watch the making of lavash, Armenia’s traditional flatbread, baked in a tonir (stone oven) using centuries-old techniques passed down through generations.
The final stop is the awe-inspiring Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site carved into the cliffs and dating back to the 12th–13th centuries. Named after the “Holy Spear” that once pierced Christ’s side and was believed to have been housed here, the monastery is a masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture, blending nature and spirituality in one harmonious site.
Return to Yerevan in the evening.

Later, visit one of Armenia’s most iconic historical sites — the Zvartnots Temple (built 641–661 AD). Though now in ruins, this circular cathedral remains a striking architectural masterpiece. Its name, “Zvartnots,” translates to “joyful” or “beautiful,” a fitting description for this ancient site.
